16 oz of feathers or 1 feather pillow soaks up 1 gallon of oil

Second experiment to see how much oil can be absorbed by a small handful of feathers and down (taken again from my duvet). This time I used sunflower oil, roughly a 1/4 cup and I used a silver spoon not a wooden spatula. The feathers formed a clump more quickly, less stirring was required because there was considerably more oil this time. From a glance after the fact it would appear that over 90% of oil was removed by the feathers. Only a few tiny drops of oil appeared on the surface and it was completely broken up. This may have happened because I squeezed out the water from the feathers when I took them out. In any case, anyone who sees this, it would be great if you take a few minutes to voice your enthusiasm for a really simple, immediate and effective way of cleaning up the BP Oil Spill such as feathers. Even in the marshy areas feathers would also be effective. Anyone living on the coast and wants to help out I would suggest emptying your feathers/down from old pillows, bring it down there and DIY the cleanup.

“It is ONE OF THE BEST PILLOWS OUT THERE!”

“a great nights sleep on the best pillow I’ve ever slept on. It’s firm yet it gives you the support you need. It keeps it shape doesn’t go flat, it’s not too big or small. It had a quilted cover, like a feather pillow. I liked it so much I ordered one for myself. I’ve slept the BEST EVER since I’ve slept on feather, foam. It is ONE OF THE BEST PILLOWS OUT THERE!” A satisfied sleeper purchased the Best Pillow on Earth the Sahara Nights at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
